Qi Family Tongbeiquan (also referred to as "Old Qi Branch") is probably the oldest of all branches of the Style and was taught in Hebei Province by Qi Xin from Zhejiang. The style uses whole body in relaxed coordinated manner; the power should be "sudden, springing, crisp, fast and hard"; the strength is transferred from back through "Three Passes" - shoulders, elbows and wrists - to reach tips of fingers. The style has preserved the feature of old, combat oriented styles, focusing on practice of single techniques instead of long routines.
